Sacrament Schedule

Sacrament of Baptism

The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated every Sunday after the 11:00 a.m. Mass. If a family desires to have a child baptized at Mass this is normally done on the 4th Sunday of the Month at the 11:00 a.m. Mass

The parents of the child must be registered members of Our Lady of Consolation Parish. They are also asked to attend one session of a Baptism Class for Parents. The program is held on the second Wednesday of the Month at 7:00 p.m. There is no cost, however, pre-registration is required with the parish office (769-1755). This program may be taken at any time during the pregnancy or after the birth.

A sponsor certificate is required from the Godparent's Parish. It is a document from the pastor stating that the Godparent is a practicing Catholic, that he/she has been Confirmed, and if married, married in the Catholic Church. We ask that this certificate be received by us at least one week before the baptism.

Only 1 Godparent is required for Baptism. If two are chosen, they must be male and female. One must be a Godparent with a sponsor certificate, the other may be a Christian Witness (A Christian baptized in another faith). A sponsor certificate is not required for a Christian Witness.

Many times we are asked about honorary godparents. We do allow honorary godparents and their names are placed on the original baptismal certificate. They, however, will not be placed in the Baptismal Document Book. There is only space for two Godparents or one Godparent and the Christian witness.

For further information, please call the parish office at 769-1755.

Sacrament of Matrimony
Couples planning to Marry at Our Lady of Consolation Church should contact Father Vamos at least six months prior to the wedding. The reason for the six months is to have time to make the Marriage Preparation Class, to meet with Father Vamos for a number of conferences, and to do the various paper work that is requested by the church. To be married in the Catholic Church - one party must be Catholic and a member of the parish. If one is divorced, there are a number of questions that must be addressed before plans can be made to have the marriage in church. It is best to discuss this with the pastor

Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession)
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is celebrated every Saturday from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. If anyone wishes to receive this Sacrament at any other time please call the office to make an appointment

Sacrament of the Sick
Call the Church Office any time there is need to receive the anointing of the Sick. If you are going to the hospital and would like to receive this Sacrament please call the office and arrangements will be made for you to receive this Sacrament before you go to the hospital.
