Deacon Gill was born on November 6, 1941 to George R. and Grace Gill (both deceased). After spending 1st and 2nd grades in the public school system, he finished his grade school education at Sts. Peter and Paul in Merrillville. He graduated from Bishop Noll High School in 1960 and from Valparaiso Technical Institute in 1962. Bob attended Purdue University and Calumet College where he received a Certificate in Religious Studies in 1978. In 1962, Bob married the former Mary Ann Norris. They are the parents of six children, Richard, Christopher, Roberta, Michael, James, and Nicholas. Bob entered the deaconate program in 1979 and was ordained as a permanent deacon at Holy Angels Cathedral by Bishop Andrew Grutka on June 20, 1982. He served as deacon at Our Lady Of Consolation Church from his ordination until 1987 when he was assigned to St Joan of Arc Church. In 1992 he was reassigned to Our Lady Of Consolation Church where he has served since. Bob, along with his wife Mary Ann, are involve in Marriage Preparation, RCIA, and Baptism Classes. Bob has maintained an active nursing home ministry for many years. |
